The United States Australian Football League will be hosting the inagural Women's Championship in Milwaukee, WI on Oct 1-2. We are planning on having at least 4 teams in the women's division. All women footy players are encouraged to play in this tournament even if you don't have enough women for a full team. We will find a team for you to play with!
Following on the success of the 2004 movie, Dodgeball, starring Ben Stiller, Dodgeball leagues have been cropping up all over the country. The Game Show Network has capitalized on this and created a show called Extreme Dodgeball. While preparing for their 2005 season, the producers put the call out for Women's Footy players to try their stuff in the Dodgeball arena.
Kelly Lovato of the Bombshells took on the challenge and tried out. Her footy and softball skills came in mighty handy and she made the cut!
The Milwaukee Bombers women's team kicked off their first practice in 2005 on Sunday at Kletzsch Park in Milwaukee. The women participated jointly with the men in various kicking and hand passing drills to start off the season.
The inaugural Wild West Shootout Australian Football Tournament will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2005, at the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. This is a one day, 9-A-SIDE Australian Rules Football tournament and includes a women's division. All women's teams and individuals are invited to Las Vegas for this exciting event! Starting July 31, Minnesota Footy practices will be held on Saturdays. The venue has also changed and practices are now located at the Northeast Athletic Fields in Minneapolis.
