Calgary/Montreal vs Columbus/Arizona

Despite the forecast of upper 80's and not a cloud to be seen, the morning dew definitely made the ball slick in the opening game.  This lead to a scrappy low scoring affair but the more seasoned Calgary/Montreal superclub won comfortably over the inexperienced Hawkaroos from Columbus and Arizona.

Milwaukee defeats Jillaroos in their Debut

The Columbus Jillaroos traveled to hot and steamy Milwaukee to play their first match of women's football. The women were treated to a 3 game curtain raiser between the men's clubs from Milwaukee, Columbus, and Ohio Valley.

The clouds were rolling in when the feature match started. Columbus sent an initial scare to the home town squad by winning the opening bounce and immediately moving the ball to the goal square. The Milwaukee defense took possession just in front of the goal and spoiled the new comers first salvo.

A Columbus Jillaroos practice often starts with a formal introduction of players.

The Australian rules football team comes together in a circle and tries to put names with an ever-growing list of faces. The Jillaroos are Columbus' first entry into the U.S.-based Women's Australia Football Association. It is also thought to be the first women's Australian rules football team to form in Columbus.

Columbus Jillaroos Officially Inaugurated

On a beautiful sunny spring day, seven lucky women came out to be a part of the first ever women's Aussie Rules practice/social/meeting ever in Ohio. Jamie, Tonya, Kristi, Sara, Megan(not pictured), Julie and Stefanie wrote themelves into future footy lore as the inaugural core that can say they will have literally been there from the beginning. Coaches Chet Ridenour and Alan Gardner and Jackaroos supporters Scoota & Santosh helped guide these women over the basics of handballing, and kicking. Did some drills and even got some action in an "ultimate footy-esque" game.
