US Freedom Team 2009 Calendar Video

Members of the US Freedom women's Australian football team have created a 2010 calendar that is on sale now with proceeds going to the Freedom tour of Australia in August 2009. The Freedom Calendar was the brainchild of New York Magpie and Freedom player Andrea Casillas. "The project came together after a little brainstorming session with the Lady Magpies on ways we could fund raise for the trip. Seven of us made the team so we knew we had a big chunk to raise. When I played for the Lady Hawks, we made a calendar that did well. So the idea just trickled from there. Originally, we thought we'd just go for a Magpies calendar, but at our New York team meeting we decided to see if any Freedom players would be interested. I thought that a fun theme would be 50's pin-ups with a little edge and as soon as I posed that idea to the rest of the team everyone jumped! "

"On the calendar is Freedom captain Jenny Sarbacker, vice-captain Tina Arend, Andrea Casillas, Christina Licata, Beth Cartier, Monica Robbins, Corynne Periera, Rebecca McHale, Danica Westin, Sheree Stiles, Nikki Peoples, Kelli Modica, Anna Thexton, Carly Harrington and Judith Stein. According to Casillas, "Everyone should buy a calendar! We worked really hard for each shot to include a little piece from the team each player is representing. This was a complete collaboration with people throughout the USAFL, from the people who planned the calendar, to Amy Bishop (from Sacramento) doing all of the art work, to Tommy Ellis in Denver who is printing the calendar through his company Alphagraphics. Beyond this, the pictures are amazing!"
