After exciting pool play, the two #1 seeds had made it through to the final. Calgary Blue was the seasoned vets as the returning champions and Milwaukee was playing in their first final. The two teams had met once before with Calgary winning very convincingly in the 2008 Nationals pool play.
The game started off with Calgary controlling the play for at least ten minutes. The Milwaukee defense held pretty firm and Calgary wasn't able to convert their scoring chances into majors. Milwaukee gradually started getting more of the ball and took advantage of their scoring chances. Scores at halftime were 2.2.14 for Milwaukee and 1.5.11 for Calgary.
Everyone was geared up for a tight game to the buzzer. Milwaukee scored right off the center bounce with Holly Jones soccering a goal from the goal square. Milwaukee kept controlling the ball and gave Calgary very few chances in their offensive zone. Suzy Thomas for Milwaukee went on a tear at center half forward and kicked 3 goals for the half. When the final siren sounded, Milwaukee had outscored Calgary 6.1.37 to 0.0.0 for the half. Final scores were 8.3.51 to 1.5.11.
