For the third session of Fitness through Footy Darcy Franklin will be leading us through a Crossfit workout at Tangletown Crossfit. CrossFit is a strength and conditioning brand that combines weightlifting, sprinting, gymnastics, power lifting, kettle ball training, plyometrics, rowing, and medicine ball training.

Each workout can be scaled to work for any level of fitness.

This session will cost $5 per person.

Fitness through Footy 2012.1

The Minnesota Freeze kicked off the 2012 Fitness through Footy program today.  Fitness through Footy is a grass roots community based initiative that provides free fitness workouts for women of all ages, shapes, and fitness levels. Incorporating the skills of Australian Football provides a unique, challenging component to the work outs that can tailored to any fitness levels.  Its fun and challenging for beginners to elite athletes.

Stateside Footy Boston/Columbus vs Minnesota

Stateside Footy presents a pair of Australian Rules Football matches, played on October 8, 2011 at the USAFL Nationals Tournament in Austin, TX. The first half of the show features Women's Footy as a combined team featuring the Boston Lady Demons (along with players from Baltimore-Washington and Columbus) plays a 2x20 Women's Footy match against the Minnesota Freeze Women's team. The second half features a 2x20 Division 4 match between a mixed team featuring reserves from Boston, San Diego and Seattle taking on a mixed squad of players from Dallas, Austin and Portland. read more »

Fitness through Footy will be returning bigger and better for 2012! We'll be meeting 10 times starting with this session and continuing through mid April.  The full schedule will be published soon.

For our first session, we're returning to the dome at Central Middle School in Wayzata (near I-494 and I-394).  We recommend getting there about 15 minutes early so that we can be ready for the workout right at the start time. read more »

With the growing popularity of women's football in North America, many clubs had new coaches in 2011 who are now looking forward to 2012.

diesel.jpgDale "Diesel" Williams (Head Coach) - Dale has been a member of the Minnesota Freeze since their debut at the 2005 USAFL Nationals.  He served as the clubs second president from 2007 - 2008.  Dale took over the coaching duties after the 2010 USAFL National Championships.

Plymouth Woman Represents U.S. In Australian Football International Cup

After a little prodding, it didn’t take long for Becky Kraft to appreciate playing Australian Rules Football.

The Plymouth native, who played Gaelic football while studying abroad in Ireland, returned to Minnesota and began playing Twin Cities Gaelic football. Some of her teammates also played Australian Rules Football, but the sport’s physicality deterred her initially. read more »
