On February 8 2004, the Orange County Bombshells travelled to Phoenix Arizona to play the newly formed Arizona Lady Hawks. This was the 2nd game of the women's football in the United States and the first interclub match.

We were still using the wrap up rule but as you can see, there was plenty of tackling going on.

Great Southern Footy Challenge Day 2

Day 2 of the Great Southern Footy Challenge started with Milwaukee guaranteed a spot in the final.  The first game of the day featured the two 1-1 teams battling it out for a spot to take on Milwaukee.

Great Southern Footy Challenge Day 1

4 teams from around the country met in the first day of the Great Southern Women's Footy Challenge.  In the first hit out of the year for most players saw Atlanta play host to Arizona/Denver/Baltimore-Washington, Milwaukee, and New York.

The day started off with a training session for the US Freedom.  After running two miles and doing skills tests, the players had to strap on their boots for two games.

The Arizona Republic was on hand to watch Arizona, Atlanta, and Denver/Milwaukee battle it out at the Duel in the Desert.  They took plenty of pictures which can be viewed at  www.azcentral.com/commphotos/azcentral/6380/1/0/

The first women's footy games of the year were held on Saturday with the inaugural 'Duel in the Desert' tournament hosted by the Arizona Lady Hawks. With temperatures expected to rise into the triple digits it was an early start with games starting not long after 8.00am. At the event were the newly formed Denver Lady Bulldogs and the Atlanta Lady Kookaburras as well as the hosts of course the Lady Hawks, runners-up at last years Nationals in Louisville.

Lady Kookaburras win third National Championship

The Atlanta Lady Kookaburras won their third successive USAFL National Championship title on Sunday defeating the Arizona Lady Hawks in Louisville Kentucky. The Lady Kookaburras came up against stiff opposition through out the pool games from the Milwaukee Lady Bombers, Arizona Lady Hawks and a combined team from Balt/Washington-Calgary, but were far too good and completed the weekend with their unbeaten run intact. read more »

Arizona Women's Metro League

The Arizona Lady Hawks have announced their 2007 Metro Footy League. Games will be playing in March and April at McQueen Park in Gilbert. Two teams will be competing for the title. read more »

Atlanta Repeats!

The 2nd annual USAFL Women's Australian Football National Championships have wrapped up in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 2005 champions from Atlanta came out strong and took home the cup again. They cemented their place in history by becoming the first dynasty in women's Football.

Lady Hawks & Bombshells
History was made today as the first match between two official women's teams in North America was played in Phoenix, Arizona at the AZAFL Metro Footy Tournament. The Orange County Bombshells traveled to play the Arizona Lady Hawks. The game was played right before the tournament Grand Final with a Burley womens football. The intensity level was high from start to finish. Every ball was contested and there was no easy marching up the field for either team. read more »
