The Dublin Angels and the Kilrea Kookaburras flew over to Edinburgh, Scotland, last weekend for what would turn out to be a thrilling Haggis Cup match. This was the first match of the year for both teams and it was heavily anticipated too as it had been almost a 7 months since these sides last met. It was another historic day for women’s football in Europe, with the first time the Haggis Cup included a ladies section. read more »

Fitness through Footy will be returning bigger and better for 2012! We'll be meeting 10 times starting with this session and continuing through mid April.  The full schedule will be published soon.

For our first session, we're returning to the dome at Central Middle School in Wayzata (near I-494 and I-394).  We recommend getting there about 15 minutes early so that we can be ready for the workout right at the start time. read more »

Ireland defeats Italy

In a hard fought match, the visiting Irish women defeated the Italian squad by a score of 6.14.50 to 6.4.40. 

In Parabiago (Milan), a crowd of about 700 gathered with good spirit, loud choruses and respectful support. They were treated to a game in which Ireland always led, though the Azzurre remained close.

Kilrea Kookaburras

The Kilrea Kookaburras are the first women's football club in Ireland and were founded in 2010.  They will be playing in the first women's Australian Football match in Europe in October, 2010.

The notion of Aussie Rules being played in Europe is no longer new but until now it has been an entirely male environment. This weekend Milan will host the continent’s first ever women’s international match of Australian Football.

The Euro Cup, an annual 9-a-side tournament, has been going since 2005. Every year Aussie Rules continues to expand, and that growth is reflected in the increasing numbers of teams taking part. read more »

On July 31, 2010 the US Freedom travelled to Toronto, Ontario to take on the Canada Northern Lights for the 49th Parallel Cup.  In their first meeting since 2007, the US knew they would have a much tougher opponent on their hands.  The ladies didn't disappoint and gave the fans the closest match of the day.

Northern Lights defeat US Freedom

The US Freedom traveled to Toronto, Canada to play the Canada Northern Lights for the first time since their initial meetings in 2007. The teams were not entirely unknown to each other since the Canadian clubs have been competing at the USAFL National Championship tournament since 2007. The Canadian team was strongly represented by the Calgary Kookaburras who won the 2008 USAFL championship by narrowly defeating the Atlanta Kookaburras and lost the 2009 Championship to the Milwaukee Bombers. read more »
